About Tumurun Museum

Museum Tumurun in Solo, Indonesia is at the forefront of supporting art education, with a diverse collection of artworks ranging from seasoned maestros to budding young artists.

Located in the heart of Surakarta, the museum is present in the community to promote easy access for everyone from all walks of life.

In a time where screens seem to take over our lives, Museum Tumurun encourages visitors to see artworks in their physical form, refreshing the idea of enjoying art through our own eyes.

Tumurun comes from the expression “turun temurun” which means passing something down from one generation to the next. Acting as a lens into Indonesia's vibrant artistic heritage and landscape, we aim to develop and advance art education in Solo and beyond, creating discussions between Indonesian and international art while bridging the gap between different generations.

Museum Tumurun organizes special exhibitions twice a year, featuring the work of artists from around the world. These exhibitions aim to keep the museum exciting and progressive, ensuring new perspectives on the art community, while providing a platform for artists and visitors to begin or continue their journey in the art world.

Museum Tumurun epitomizes the idea of adapting to an ever-changing world, strongly believing in the hope to act as a window of insight for all who wish to learn more about the world of art.

Get free tickets by registering through the website every Monday starting at 10:00 am for visits on Tuesday - Sunday of the same week (Limited quota & valid only on certain exhibitions or visits). See here for other terms and conditions.
